We Didn't Forget...

It's been a hectic week, and even though the dog in our new story is not a main character, it's taking our "expert panel" longer to pick a name than we anticipated.  I will post the winning name soon.

In the meantime, I'll let you in on a little secret...The working title for my new book is called

Mark the Missing Moose

(Stay tuned for more details.)

Now in 3D!

The Name the Dog Contest has ended! Thanks to all who participated. There were over two dozen creative entries, so now we will have to choose. As soon as a decision is made, the name and the winner will be announced! Thanks again for joining in the fun!

In the meantime, we'd like to share that The Moose at the Manger is now available in 3D!  Isn't that news out of this world!

The best news of all is that between now and Christmas, the price of the 3D book is the same as the regular story book, but it comes complete with 3D pictures and those very cool 3D glasses!

The Moose at the Manger will make a great stocking stuffer this Christmas season!

The Moose at the Manger also comes as a storybook and a coloring book.  You can make a purchase by using the PayPal pull down menu at the side panel of this blog.

If interested, there is a lesson plan guide available too.

Name the Dog CONTEST! Yes, you can be a winner!

I know you are probably wondering why me, a dog, is on a moose blog, but moose have friends too!  I am Humphrey Dog and I have been with Chris Mas Moose and the family for almost 20 years. I am hear to announce a new contest for a new story!  We can't reveal much yet, BUT there is a dog in the story. Is there also a moose????  Why, of course, there is.

But, for now we want to invite you to join the

(I will now turn things over to the person, not the moose, in charge.)

Together with Sandi Czyznikiewicz, I would like to invite you to take part in a new contest.  Entry is simple...put on your best creative hat and come up with a name for a big dog that likes to chew things up.  There is a new children's story in the works and we thought it would be fun to have you take an active part.

There are two ways you can enter:

1)  Leave your best dog name in the comments section with your email address, OR

2)  If you do not want others to see your entry, you can email your response to lisatortsbook@ameritech.net.  In the subject line simply type "Dog Contest" and then email your entry.

The contest will run through November 2, 2012.  If your dog name is chosen, you will win an autographed coloring book of The Moose at the Manger (a great Christmas gift)!

Thanks and have fun with this!

Where's Waldo...actually "Where's the Moose" contest...it's easy to enter.

Here is Chris Mas Moose sitting with Joey and Jenna! Take a good look at them and then we are going to play Where's Waldo?  Well, okay, not Waldo...but Where's Jenna and Joey?  So, go ahead take a good look at Jenna and Joey and then scroll down when you think you are ready?

Leave a comment telling us where you found Jenna and Joey in this picture or if you want your answer to remain a secret (just between the moose and you) e-mail them at lisatortsbook@ameritech.net.  In the subject line write CONTEST!

Doing either will automatically enter you in a contest to win a Moose at the Manger coloring book!   Do your best to describe their position.  And just to add more fun to the contest...let us know if you find the shar pei dog in this group too and where you found him.

Remember:  If you leave a comment in this post also leave an email address so we can contact you if you win!

This contest has ended.  Catch us next time!

Chilly on the Outside...Chili on the Inside!

This is Pricilla checking in and giving you an important Moose at the Manger update! Our Moo heard back from her conceptual editor and now she has some work to do on her story to get it ready for the next step in production.  Since we moose work so well together, a group of us volunteered to help.

Here's an overview of the story!

Pencil Moose (from Pennsylvania) volunteered to take notes!

While the editing gang started to brainstorm some ideas there was a delicious smell wafting through Chris's house.  They took a peak in the kitchen to see what they could see...

Wow!  A huge pot of chili simmering on the stove...what a great incentive to get their creative juices flowing. It also brought back some special memories for ChrisMasMoose...so he dug out an old picture to share with you.

This was taken many moose years ago when Poppy was making chili and I helped in the kitchen for the very first time.

As you can see I loved the chili and ate every last morsel. I've been hooked on people food ever since!

Well enough reminiscing for one day...

It's time to get back to work!

After a hard day of editing and feeling the chill of the wind while seeing leaves pass by the window, tonight's chili will be even better!

Conceptual Editing...Moose-style

Duffles and Ruffles

As you can see by our picture we are Duffles and Ruffles. I am Duffles, the taller moose, and Ruffles is my little brother.  We have lived here in Chris's house now for almost 15 years. We  never imagined becoming a civilized moose would be so much fun, but my brother and I love it!  One of the best parts is being able to sleep in a bed.  What a concept that is!

Our book, The Moose at the Manger, is progressing nicely.  This month we are in the conceptual editing phase.  Grammar and spelling and that kind of editing is important but certainly not as interesting as conceptual editing.   We have spent the last week helping our Moo organize some thoughts as to certain images and feelings she wants to make sure come through in the story.

Here we are proofreading Moo's notes to make sure they make sense before she sends them to her editor.  We figure, if we moose can understand them, then everyone else should be able to also.

We don't mind saying ourselves that we think this is going to be quite a book when it is finished!

Don't forget there is still time to vote for your favorite costume in our "Moose Costume Contest" and you will be entered in a drawing for a FREE AUTOGRAPHED copy of The Moose at the Manger when it comes out in 2012.  Just click HERE
